Welcome to West York Area School District

The School District is characterized as residential, although a large amount of open land is zoned for business, agriculture and light industry. In view of the location of the School District, with its highways and access to nearby metropolitan areas, it is reasonable to believe that growth will continue to take place. West York Area School District includes the Borough of West York and the Township of West Manchester. You are cordially invited to become a part of our School District. We pledge to provide the best educational program possible for your child. Our district's philosophy is centered on increased academic rigor, safe schools, and motivating students to fulfill their learning potential.

Our educational focus includes the following:
  • Elementary School: Differentiated instruction to meet each child's individual needs.
  • Middle School: School-within-a-school team philosophy.
  • High School: Block schedule designed to provide students with more academic opportunities.
  • Class Size: The district is proud of its low class sizes. Teacher aides are employed in grades kindergarten through three and in all special education classrooms.
  • Leadership Team: The district's administration team consists of individuals who are enthusiastically committed to increasing academic rigor in a highly collaborative and safe-school environment.
  • Teachers: The district's talented teachers are well educated and focused on working collaboratively toward increasing academic rigor and individualizing student learning.
  • Support Staff: The district is proud of its ancillary staff and the quality work they do to support the educational system.
  • Scores: The district continues to achieve Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) as defined by law. students perform competitively within the county on standardized tests.
  • Discipline: The district does not tolerate bullying and works continuously and deliberately toward keeping a safe and orderly environment for students and staff.
  • Technology: The district embraces progressive technology that enhances student learning and also increases the district's overall efficiency and security.
