PIAA Class 2-A Swimming Championships

March 13th-14th at  Bucknell University

BOYS TEAM:

  • 200 Medley Relay placed 29th in 1:45.60 (Jack Friedah, Alex Landis, Kieran McKee, Jackson Miller)

  • 200 Free Relay placed 27th in 1:33.55 (Luke Foery, Jackson Miller, Kieran McKee, Alex Landis)

 

GIRLS TEAM:

  • 200 Free Relay earned All-State Honorable Mention Status after placing 14th in 1:41.37 (Tesia Thomas, Ellie Landis, Meaghan Harnish, Meghan French)

  • 400 Free Relay placed 21st overall (Tesia Thomas, Ellie Landis, Meaghan Harnish, Meghan French)

  • 200 Freestyle – Meghan French placed 6th overall in 1:54.47. That time was the 11th fastest ever by a YAIAA Swimmer. (45 years of history in YAIAA). This swim earned All-State Status.

  • 200 Individual Medley – Meaghan Harnish placed 3rd overall in 2:03.79. This is the FASTEST swim ever by a YAIAA Swimmer. This swim earned All-State Status. This swim broke the West York team record.

  • 50 Freestyle – Tesia Thomas placed 16th and earned All-State Honorable Mention Status.

  • Diving – Maya Sarver placed 15th and earned All-State Honorable Mention Status.

  • 500 Freestyle – Meghan French placed 2nd overall in 4:59.50. This is the 4th fastest ever by a YAIAA Swimmer. This swim earned All-State Status.

  • 100 Breaststroke – Meaghan Harnish placed 7th in 1:05.08, breaking her own West York Team Record. This swim earned All-State Status.

District III Championship Swim & Dive Meet

March 1st -2nd at Cumberland Valley High School

Thank you to those that came and cheered on the kids! Your support did not go unnoticed by our swimming Bulldogs.

-  Fourteen of 18 individual swims (78%) were lifetime bests.

-  WY will be sending six boys and six girls to the PIAA State 

   Meet March 13th & 14th at Bucknell University.

 

  • 100% of the WY team made the YAIAA County Meet.

  • 64% of our team made the District III Meet.

  • 48% of our team made the PIAA State Meet.

 

Perspective:

  • WY has 14 girls on the team. All 14 girls made the YAIAA County Meet, 10 girls made the District III Meet, and six girls made the PIAA State Meet.

  • WY has 11 boys on our team. All 11 boys made the YAIAA County Meet, six boys made the District III Meet, and six boys made the PIAA State Meet.

GIRLS TEAM:

Girls team placed 4th overall at Districts,

and set two new West York team records!

  • Maya Sarver placed 3rd in Diving and advances      to the PIAA State Meet.

  • Girls Medley Relay of Kylie Kestner, Sarah Noel, Katie Coats, and Stacia Gurreri placed 13th.

  • Meghan French placed 3rd in the 200 Freestyle in 1:55.51 (2nd all-time at West York) and advances  to the PIAA State Meet.

  • Meaghan Harnish placed 1st in the 200 IM in 2:06.11 (2nd all-time at West York) (lifetime best) and advances to the PIAA State Meet.

  • Tesia Thomas placed 6th in the 50 Freestyle             and advances to the PIAA State Meet.

  • Ellie Landis swam a 50 Freestyle in 26.25.

  • Katie Coats swam a 100 Butterfly in 1:14.77.

  • Girls 200 Free Relay of Tesia Thomas, Ellie Landis, Meaghan Harnish, and Meghan French placed 3rd in 1:40.36 (West York Team Record) and advances to the PIAA State Meet.

  • Tesia Thomas swam a lifetime best in the            100 Freestyle in 55.21.

  • Ellie Landis swam a lifetime best in the 100 Freestyle in 58.26.

  • Meghan French placed 1st in the 500 Freestyle in 5:01.61 (2nd all-time at West York) (lifetime best) and advances to the PIAA State Meet.

  • Meaghan Harnish placed 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke in 1:05.12 (West York team record) (lifetime best) and advances to the PIAA State Meet.

  • Girls 400 Free Relay of Tesia Thomas, Ellie Landis, Meaghan Harnish, and Meghan French placed 3rd in 3:41.37 and advances to the PIAA State Meet.

BOYS TEAM:

Overall, the boys team set two new West York

team records!

  • The Boys 200 Medley Relay of Jackson Miller, Alex Landis, Kieran McKee, and Aidan Connolly placed 5th in 1:43.30 (West York team record) and advances the PIAA State Meet. This is the first time in over 20 years that West York will send a Boys Medley Relay to the PIAA State Meet!

  • Luke Foery placed 7th in the 200 Freestyle in 1:50.46. (lifetime best).

  • Alex Landis swam a lifetime best in the 200 IM in 2:10.02.

  • Jack Friedah swam a lifetime best in the 100 Butterfly in 59.10.

  • The Boys 200 Freestyle Relay of Luke Foery, Aidan Connolly, Kieran McKee, and Jackson Miller placed 1st in 1:30.93 (West York team record) and advance to the PIAA State Meet. This is the first time since 2005 that West York will send a Boys Free Relay to the PIAA State Meet!

  • Kieran McKee swam a lifetime best in the 100 Freestyle in 50.95.

  • Aidan Connolly swam a lifetime best in the 100 Freestyle in 51.01.

  • Luke Foery placed 7th in the 500 Freestyle in 5:07.43. (lifetime best).

  • Jackson Miller placed 6th in the 100 Backstroke in 56.73. (lifetime best).

  • Jack Friedah swam a lifetime best in the 100 Backstroke in 59.08.

  • Alex Landis swam a lifetime best in the 100 Breaststroke in 1:06.25.
